We are a faith based community organization committed to addressing systemic issues of racial and economic
disparities throughout the Greater Hartford region.
Our current membership includes 32 faith communities representing eight municipalities throughout the Greater
Hartford region. We are institutionally based with a formalized dues structure. Our organizational boundaries
include the 29 towns of the Capital Region Council of Governments. We are passionately committed to creating a
truly interfaith community dedicated to issues of equity and justice.
Our faith-based organization is drawn from the region’s diverse religious communities, and reflects our common
values and shared commitments to social and economic justice.
We shall vigorously address the most pressing issues, problems, inequities and opportunities throughout the
Greater Hartford area, in order to achieve a just and righteous community for every child and adult. We begin by
acknowledging that racism, classism, sexism, segregation and indifference are at the root of every evil in our
region, and will require confrontation and healing in each and every one of our mission efforts.
Our intention is to effect community-wide, systemic change through legislative advocacy and reform, community
action and renewal, uniting in cooperation with those groups and organizations in the region that share our faith-
based values and commitments.
Our Organizing Principles:
We are committed to:
• Building community through relationships;
• Leadership growth and development
• Strengthening our faith institutions through community organizing
• Creating vehicles for congregations and community leaders within low and moderate communities to effectively
work for racial and economic justice
• Promoting local and state policies that advance racial and economic justice for our communities.
Membership:
Each member institution can appoint two representatives to the ICEJ Board of Director’s. Membership is ½% of
your annual collection, or $10.00/family with a $500.00 minimum.

indifference are systemic ills that consistently plague our region. Therefore, we shall vigorously
address the most pressing issues, problems, inequities and opportunities throughout the Greater
Hartford region, in order to achieve a just and righteous community for all.
Our commitment is to create a prophetic movement that brings about the transformation necessary in
our region.
